Introducing the Debt System in MapleStory Classic World

Hi Classic Maplers,
We recently shared an update regarding Real Money Trading (RMT), where players buying or selling mesos and in-game items for real money were temporarily banned. As part of our continued efforts to make MapleStory Classic World a fair experience for all Maplers, we are introducing the Debt System. This system collects mesos from accounts involved in RMT or unfair trading, such as trades involving illegitimately obtained mesos or items.
When an account has an outstanding debt:
- A pop-up appears at every login, notifying you of your current debt and the trading restrictions that apply.
- The 'Repay Illegal Mesos' button will be displayed at the top center of your game screen until the debt is fully paid off.
The following actions are restricted while the account is in debt:
- Using a Store Permit
- Using a Hired Merchant
- Trading (in-game items and Cash items)
- Cash Shop Gifting
- Dropping items on the ground
If you believe the debt applied to your account was made in error, please contact Player Support.
- Click the ‘Repay Illegal Mesos’ button at the top center of the screen.
- Debt payments can only be made while in a town.
- Enter the amount of mesos to repay.
- The default amount is your total debt, or all mesos in your Item Inventory if you hold less than your debt.
- The minimum amount is 1 meso.
- You cannot enter more than the mesos currently in your Item Inventory.
- Click 'Confirm', then:
- OK: Repays the amount entered.
- Cancel: Cancels the repayment and closes the window.
When all debt has been repaid, all the restricted actions are lifted and the ‘Repay Illegal Mesos’ button will be removed.
Our team continues to actively monitor and take action against accounts found engaging in Real Money Trading or other abnormal gameplay activities that violate our Terms of Service. We remain committed to keeping MapleStory Classic World fair and enjoyable for all Maplers. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

- Due to the larger than expected number of players following the Grand Launch, we are implementing additional optimizations and preventative measures to help maintain service stability.

- Resolved an issue where the color Green was a selectable option when using the Signature Eye Color Coupon.
- Resolved an issue where accounts that have not met the trade requirements (reaching Lv.15 and waiting 24 hours) could not drop Kerning City Party Quest coupons and passes.

Bug Fixes:
- Resolved an issue where the rope leading to the top-right platform in The Murky Swamp could not be climbed.
- Resolved an issue where players and monsters could move off-screen at the edges of Sleepy Dungeon II.
- Resolved an issue where Final Attack would only last 30 seconds instead of 60 seconds for certain jobs.
- Resolved an issue where Poison Breath would consume MP twice when hitting monsters.
- Resolved an issue where Poison Breath would deal more than 1 damage to monsters immune to poison.
- Resolved an issue where the Green Jester Hat was missing its +18 Magic Defense stat.
- Resolved an issue where the 2nd Job advancement would fail and remove the quest item if there were not enough empty slots in the Use inventory.
- Resolved an issue where pets using Auto Move and Expanded Auto Move would repeatedly try to pick up items on a different platform.
- Resolved an issue where the Report window would not become transparent during combat even when UI Fade was enabled.
- Resolved an issue where the game client would sometimes disconnect when editing a buddy’s memo after that buddy had logged out.
- Resolved a text issue where “Account Friend” was misspelled in the Buddy List right-click menu.

Whether you’re revisiting old favorites or experiencing MapleStory for the first time, this is your chance to create a character, find your community, and make memories that last. From casual exploration to epic boss battles, there’s a place for every kind of Mapler.
Join our official MapleStory Discord to meet other Maplers, share your adventures, and find people to explore Classic World with. Bring your friends, choose your adventure, and we’ll see you in-game!
Accessing Classic World
- Download and install the official Nexon Launcher from the Nexon website.
- Log in with your Nexon account.
- On Launch Day: Locate MapleStory in your library, select the MapleStory Classic World toggle, and download the standalone client.
- Open your Steam Library and locate MapleStory.
- Click 'Install' and select your preferred drive.
- Allow the base download to finish completely and let Steam apply any pending updates.
General Key Details
- Your Founder’s Package will be available to claim from your in-game mailbox. Items must be claimed by 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM UTC.
- The game can be played on both Windows and macOS.
- The game now supports English and Spanish (Beta) languages.
- You can choose between Classic Style and Modern Style as the default key binding settings. Modern Style supports WASD movement!
- Xbox and PlayStation controllers are supported. Other controllers may not function properly.
- Make sure to Enable Controller Support in Game Options to have your controller recognized! This option is toggled off by default.
- Up to 3 characters can be created per account. When deleting a character, there will be a waiting period before it's deleted from your account.
- Every character starts as a Beginner on Maple Island. You’ll meet your first monsters, complete quests, and get familiar with the basics before traveling to Victoria Island.
- Victoria Island is home to multiple towns where you’ll choose your job and continue your adventure. Explore forests, mountains, dungeons, and more as you take on quests and meet other Maplers along the way!
- At Lv. 10, you can complete your 1st Job Advancement and choose one of the four jobs: Warrior, Magician, Bowman, or Thief. Each offers a different way to fight, so choose one that fits how you want to play!
- At Lv. 30, your 2nd Job Advancement lets you choose a more specialized path and learn new skills.
The maximum character level is Lv. 100
- As you explore Victoria Island, you may come across powerful bosses! Prepare your equipment and team up with other Maplers to take on the 5 Bosses that will available to challenge:
- Access to special items from the local specialty shop
- Discount on Cab prices
- Discount on Storage Keeper services
- Discount for some general store items
Founder’s First Step
How to Participate
- Once you reach Lv. 10, talk to Maple Administrator to accept the ‘[Event] Founder’s First Step’ quest.
- The reward you receive is based on your total number of daily check-ins with Maple Administrator. Each day you check in increases your count by one, even if you missed a day in between.
- Example: If you claim Day 1’s reward on Monday and return on Wednesday, you’ll receive Day 2’s reward.
- Rewards can be claimed once per account for each check-in day.

- Test your physical fitness and take on a jump quest within 15 minutes.
- Movement and jump are set to default, and skills like Haste and Teleport are disabled. Consumable items will have no effect during the event.
- Successfully complete the physical fitness challenge to receive the Scroll of Secrets reward.
How to Participate
- Talk to Paul at Lith Harbor to move to the event map. You cannot participate if you:
- Own a Scroll of Secrets
- Participated in a GM event within the past 24 hours
- Attack coconut trees using melee attacks to collect as many coconuts as possible within 5 minutes. Players will be divided into two teams.
- Ranged attacks and skills cannot be used and will be disabled.
- If you don’t have a melee weapon, you can purchase one by talking to Harry located in the event map.
- The winning team receives the Scroll of Secrets reward.
How to Participate
- Talk to Paul at Lith Harbor to move to the event map. You cannot participate if you:
- Own a Scroll of Secrets
- Participated in a GM event within the past 24 hours
- Find your way through ladders and tricky portals within the time limit. Choose carefully, as some portals will move you to the next map while others may send you back to the beginning.
- Movement and jump are set to default, and skills like Haste and Teleport are disabled. Consumable items will have no effect during the event.
- Reach the last stage to receive the Scroll of Secrets reward.

Founder’s Access for MapleStory Classic World kicks off on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM PDT (2:00 PM EDT / 8:00 PM CEST / 4:00 AM AEST October 7), and we want to ensure you can jump into the game the exact moment servers go live! To help you avoid long wait times on launch day, here is your essential preparation guide.
Step 1: Choose Your Platform
Before you start prepping your files, it is important to choose the platform that works best for your hard drive space.
- Nexon Launcher (Recommended for Storage): The official Nexon Launcher allows you to download MapleStory Classic World as a smaller, standalone client. You do not need to install MapleStory to play MapleStory Classic World.
- Steam: Due to Steam’s technical framework, MapleStory and MapleStory Classic World are packaged together as a single, unified build. This requires a much larger download, as you must install the base game to access MapleStory Classic World.
Step 2: Pre-Download Your Game
Once you have chosen your platform, you can start prepping your files today so you aren't stuck downloading on launch day.
Since the MapleStory Classic World game client cannot be downloaded until launch day, you can save time by getting your Nexon Launcher ready right now.
- Download and install the official Nexon Launcher from the Nexon website.
- Log in with your Nexon account.
- On Launch Day: Locate MapleStory in your library, select the MapleStory Classic World toggle, and download the standalone client.
Note: The MapleStory Classic World option won’t be available until Founder’s Access launch day.

Yes, it is recommended to pre-download MapleStory Classic World before Founder's Access begins, to ensure you can jump into the game the moment servers go live.
For Nexon Launcher, since the MapleStory Classic World game client cannot be downloaded until launch day, you can save time by getting your Nexon Launcher ready right now.
- Download and install the official Nexon Launcher from the Nexon website.
- Log in with your Nexon account.
- On Launch Day: Locate MapleStory in your library, select the MapleStory Classic World toggle, and download the standalone client.
Note: The MapleStory Classic World option won't be available until Founder's Access launch day.
For Steam, because MapleStory and MapleStory Classic World are bundled together, you will need to have both MapleStory and MapleStory Classic World installed. You will be able to pre-download by having MapleStory fully installed and updated prior to the launch, and it is highly recommended to also link your Nexon account to your Steam profile prior to the launch.
- Open your Steam Library and locate MapleStory.
- Click Install and select your preferred drive.
- Allow the base download to finish completely and let Steam apply any pending updates.
Note: The MapleStory Classic World option won't be available until Founder's Access launch day.
Via Web (Recommended): Log into your Nexon account on the official website, navigate to your Account Settings, and link your Steam profile directly from your browser without waiting for the game to download.
Via Steam: Launch MapleStory through Steam once your download finishes. When prompted, sign in with your Nexon credentials to confirm the link between your accounts.

If you purchased either the Snail or Orange Mushroom Package through the Nexon website, you can upgrade to a higher tier (Orange Mushroom or Zakum) at any time during the sales period by paying the price difference. When you upgrade, only the additional items from the new tier are delivered to your mailbox, and any items you have already claimed will not be duplicated.
When logged in to the Founder's Package page, you can see what package you have currently purchased, as well as the option to "UPGRADE" to another package. Click the "UPGRADE" button to pay the price difference and convert to the higher-tiered package.
If you upgrade from the Orange Mushroom Package to the Zakum Package after Founder's Access has started, the additional Zakum Package items will be delivered to your mailbox after your purchase is confirmed and upon your next login.
Upgrades are available until October 14, 2026 11:59 PM PDT, when sale of Founder's Packages ends. Packages cannot be downgraded once purchased, so pick the tier that's right for you. Upgrades are not available on Steam.
Yes, you must pick up the items from your in-game mailbox on MapleStory Classic World before November 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM UTC. If not claimed from your mailbox, the items will expire. Once you claim your package from your mailbox, you will have 30 days to open it.

Note: Outfit sets come packaged in a box that have a 30-day duration and are tradable within your account. Upon opening the box, the resulting outfit items are permanent and untradable but can be transferred to other characters on the same account and within the same world via the Cash Inventory.

Yes, Signature Style Collection boxes can be transferred between characters on the same account through the Cash Inventory within MapleStory Classic World.
Any selector coupons contained within the Outfit Set Coupon received from the box are untradable. Once a selector coupon is used, the resulting items can be transferred between characters on the same account in MapleStory Classic World through the Cash Inventory. Please note that hair and face styles obtained from hair and face coupons are untradable.
